Race Relations Day 2018!

We have had a fabulous day today.
We started our Race Relations Day with a special assembly in the hall. All of the classes had a chance to walk across the stage and share their special costumes with the school.

Rooms 2 and 3 were also very lucky to have some parents come in to share something from their culture.
Laura, Elaina's Mum came in to teach us how to say 'hello' and 'thank you' in Chinese.
Mr Abdul, Ibrahim's Dad, came to tell us a story from Somalia and Avyukt was super brave and shared a dance from India.

We had a wonderful shared lunch together-thank you to everyone who brought some yummy food to school to share.

We have had a fantastic Race Relations Day sharing each others culture.

Mrs Fletcher is welcoming everyone in assembly.

Some children are saying hello in different languages.

Here are Rooms 2 and 3 dressed up in their special clothes.

Elains's Mum taught us some numbers in Chinese. She also told us how to say 'hello' and 'thank you' in Madarin.

Mr Abdul shared a story from Somalia.

Avyukt showed us a dance from India.

Here we all are waiting to share the food.

An exciting visitor!!

We were very lucky today!  Mrs Johns brought her pet turtle to school for us to see.  The turtle is called Soup.  What a funny name for a turtle.  Mrs Johns told us all about Soup and we learnt lots of very interesting facts about turtles.  We had some exciting things to write during writing time.  Why don't you come in and see our writing?  We would love to show you.

Well done to everyone for supporting Ms Mudgway in her fundraising for leukaemia and blood cancer, and well done to Mr Faulder, Mr Lyons and Mr Greenfield for being brave and having their hair shaved in support!

Ms Mudgway, we think you are an inspiring and brave role model getting your hair shaved off.

Awesome team work this afternoon during play based learning-there was lots of risk taking, negotiating and testing going on to do this 48 piece puzzle, and you did it together-well done team, we are proud of your efforts.

Sea Week

As part of Green week, we are learning about the sea and the creatures that live in it.
We were very excited to have a visit from Steve from Ocean Explorers. He showed us some wonderful videos and photos of creatures under the sea. He also talked to us about plastic and how we need to look after the sea by putting plastic into the rubbish bin, because otherwise it might end up in the sea, and sea creatures may think it is food!

Ocean explorers have a fantastic website you may like to look.

As part of Sea Week, Room 2 will be learning about penguins. If you have any interesting information about penguins to share with us please let Mrs Getty know!
