a few snippets from our busy week

We have had another great week in Tuatahi.
We all loved jumping into the swimming pool to cool off on Wednesday afternoon and we are looking forward to our swimming lessons next week.
PLEASE REMEMBER SWIMMING TOGS AND TOWEL EVERYDAY FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS.

We also had a fun afternoon of music with Mr Kim on Thursday afternoon.  You can ask your child what instrument they played!

Sariyah is on a circle hunt. How many circles has she found?

Hawa is on a rectangle hunt. How many rectangles has she found?
Eris and Clemence are playing in the cafe-Eris is asking Clemence what she would like on her toast!

bugs!

Some great learning happened today when Shuaib and Gyzharn found some bugs with Mrs Waddington.

A lovely surprise!

Did you know we have an author in our class?

We had a lovely surprise today when Austin and his Mum Jane came in to read us a story that their family had written and illustrated. Aren't they clever!

The book is called 'Icecream Surprise'.

We really enjoyed listening to the story and looking at the cool pictures.

Thank you Jane, Mark, Tamsin, Austin and Lottie for sharing your book with us, we loved it!

Lot's of exciting learning in Tuatahi this week

We have had another busy week with swimming, music, and assembly. We also started our maths groups which we enjoyed.

Check out these photos to see what we have been up to.

Great team work by Austin and Gyzharn who built the Chelsea Sugar Factory!

Krishan, Spencer and Vivek are cooperating and communicating while playing with the dinosaurs

Abrianna is practising her counting while bouncing the ball-can you guess how many bounces she could do?
We were very excited to see the paint out today!

Vivek is practising his writing.

Our word of the week is 'the' - here are Eris, Daanya and Keilah cutting and sticking the letters into the right order to make the word 'the'

Acelynn is rolling the dice and matching the number she has rolled with the number on the sheet.

Elsa, Gyzharn and Vivek are learning to recognise and order numbers 1-10. They have done a lot of maths learning this week!

Swimming and Music

It's been a very hot week, so it was really fabulous being able to go swimming on Wednesday afternoon.
Remember to pack togs and towel in a swimming bag ready for swimming on Wednesday afternoons!

We also had a fun time this afternoon at music with Mr Kim.
We are learning how to play the glockenspiel. It was lot's of fun and we can't wait until next Thursday!

Under Construction

We are learning how to use our 'under construction' signs.
When someone is working on something and they want to carry on with their project later, they can put an 'under construction' sign on their work so that we know to keep it safe.

A busy week!

Well done to everyone for getting through your first whole week of school-especially with this hot weather!
We have had another successful week of becoming familiar with our new routines and expectations.
Here are some photos of some of the activities we have been 'caught 'doing during Play Based Learning.
We have loved listening to you negotiate, share, problem solve and work together as a team.

Reading Time

Reading is a very important part of our school day.
We read with the teacher everyday.
We also read books from our class library          as well as our class poem and big book everyday.

We are enjoying getting to know some of the books in our class library.

Nevaeh is at our letter of the day table hunting out the letter Aa. She is doing a great job of recognising the letter!

Some great learning already!

Here we are completing our first literacy activity for the year.
We had to be a detective and find all the letters Aa.
We then had to learn how to glue the sheet into our activity book and to find the box to put our book into when we had finished.

There were lot's of things to remember but you all did an awesome job!

A busy few days!

We have had a lovely time meeting all our new learners and their families.
Well done to everyone for getting through the first couple of days where everything is new and exciting!
The children had their first school assembly on Thursday where they visited the hall and meet Mrs Fletcher, Ms Whysall and Ms Cramer.
They are learning the routines and expectations of the classroom, and they are all doing a fantastic job!
Here are some photos of Tuatahi learners becoming familiar with our school.
We are learning where to line up after play times.

We are learning to STOP at the red line.

There are even red lines in the trees! We know that when we climb these trees we must stop at the red line.

We walked to the playground.

We walked to the sandpit.

We walked to the fale.

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
