Pop pop popcorn!!

What a lovely way to end the term with our fun Friday!
We made special boxes and filled them with popcorn-we even learned a poem about popcorn.

Here are our cool popcorn boxes!

Here is our popcorn poem-you can read it together at home.

                            It tastes yummy!!
Mrs Haines is making the popcorn-yum!

Happy holidays everyone-we look forward to seeing you in two weeks!

A lovely surprise visit!

We had a lovely visit from Riley and Matthias in  year 2, who came to share their fabulous writing with us-they have made some books.
We loved listening to their wonderful stories, thanks boys!

Holiday Reading Log

Welcome to your first holiday reading log!
It looks like this, and you will find it in your child's book bag.
Once you have read a book together  please fill out the reading log.
If  you bring your completed reading log back to school at the beginning of term 2,  you will get a special visit from Fairy Judy who brings a certificate and a wee prize!
If you are not sure about what to read-maybe try visiting the library and choosing some books together.
You can read with or to your child, and if they are feeling confident, they can even read to you!

Happy Reading everyone!

stick insects

This week has been all about stick insects in Tuatahi!
Our big book this week was an information book about stick insects.
We found out where they live, what they eat and how many legs they have!
We also talked about camouflage-we enjoyed learning about stick insects.

'Our Street'

We embraced the house theme that emerged out of our play based learning last week and many learners made houses out of boxes.
We also read a big book called 'Our Street' so we decided to make our own street out of our boxes.
Feel free to visit 'Our Street' next time you are in our area.

Rimu Little Splash

We are super proud of all our Tuatahi learners who had fun participating in our Little Splash on Tuesday.
Our Little Splash involved 3 widths across the pool-walking, flutter board and noodle.
Thank you to those parents who came down to support their children while they showed how confident they have become in the water.

Letter Detectives!

One of our activities that our learners could choose from this morning was to be a letter detective and find all the letter 's' on the sheet.

Duffy Assembly

This morning was our first Duffy Assembly of the year.
We had a special visit from Jack Tame-how lucky were we!
Jack talked to us about his job, and he also talked to us about how important reading is. He told us he reads every morning for an hour when he gets to work so that he can get the information he needs for his TV show.
Jack loves reading, and he encouraged us all to love ready as well.
Here we are sitting in assembly-can you see all the Duffy book boxes that have been decorated for each class?
Here is Jack Tame talking to us about reading.
Kirat and Siddharth went up to get Tuatahi's special box-can you guess what was inside?

Thank you Duffy for our wonderful books, happy reading everyone!

Our community

Here is the finished map of our houses.
Some learners have also made some houses for our display.
Don't forget to keep practising your address, it is an important part of keeping ourselves safe!

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
