This week is Samoan language week. We are enjoying learning how to say a few words in Samoan.
We can say hello(Talofa) and thank you(faafetai)
We watched a you tube clip to help us learn the numbers in Samoan-thanks Blessing for being so brave and helping us learn to count to 10.
You can click on the link below the photo to take you to the clip we used so that you can practise counting in Samoan at home!
Welcome to Tuatahi, your child's first class. This blog is a place where we share our learning journey with our whanau and friends. Our whole school theme for 2022 is Superheroes, and this term we will look at the idea that not all superheroes wear capes. We look forward to working together to create a positive learning journey for your child.

Our Assembly
Mrs Waddington, Philippa, Sarah and Lovely Lau were just as excited as the Tuatahi learners on Thursday morning as we prepared for our assembly presentation in front of the whole school!
We were all super brave and did a great performance. We are very very proud teachers indeed-well done everyone.
During our performance we sang a couple of songs, shared our writing and pictures as well as acting out revolving planets during our planet song. We also shared a slideshow of the activities we have been doing- you can pop into the previous blog post to see that!
Here are some photos of us on the stage before assembly started.
Well done everyone, we were very proud of you all and thank you to those parents who came to watch-we appreciated your support.

A visit to our Library
What a perfect way to finish the week. We really enjoyed our visit to the library on Friday afternoon. We met Helen, found the cushions, relaxed and read a book and then chose a book to take back to our classroom and read.

Stardome
Wednesday morning began with a class full of excited Tuatahi learners as we got ready for our trip to Stardome.
We were really excited to learn some more about space.
Here we are waiting for the bus to take us to the Stardome.
We loved the bus ride as we spent time looking out the window to spot trucks and buses and different houses-some of us also managed to sing 'The wheels on the bus....'
Here we are lining up to go into the Stardome
Here are some of our learners lining up with the planets so they could show the distance between each one.

We met a teacher called Josh, who talked to us about the planets.
Did you know the sun is a star and it is made out of gas?
Did you know that it takes a whole year for the Earth to revolve around the sun?
These are just some of the things we learned at the Stardome.
Look at the enormous sun-the planets revolve around the sun. Here are some of our learners lining up with the planets so they could show the distance between each one.
We have just finished our little quizz!
We even met some very special astronauts-do you recognise them?
We had a great morning at the Stardome and we found out a lot of interesting information about space and our solar system.
Have fun talking together about what information your learner discovered during our trip to Stardome.
Space!
We are really enjoying learning about space.
We have been reading, singing, drawing, counting, ordering, building and creating all things space this week!
Take a look at some of the activities we have been involved in.

Road Safety Week
As part of our road safety week, we spent some time this afternoon learning how to cross on the pedestrian crossing by our school safely.
Thank you to Jared and Zoe who are road patrol monitors in year 6, who came out to help us cross the road.
We have been learning a poem called 'STOP, LOOK and LISTEN Before You Cross the Street'
Look out for this poem in your child's poetry folder on Friday.
Here are some pictures of us practicing stopping, looking both ways, and listening for the cars, before we cross the street.
We also talked about sneaky driveways-we know we have to be very careful to check that cars aren't backing out of the driveway before we cross over.
We hope you are all doing lot's of talking about how to keep safe on the roads!
