It's hard to believe we are nearing the end of the year. We have loved teaching your children, and helping them settle into school. They have all done a great job and are now ready for a big holiday before the exciting move into year 1 in 2020.
Just a reminder about holiday reading logs.
All children have been given a holiday reading log to fill out over the Summer break. It looks like this and can be found in your child's book bag.
Remember to record every time you read- it doesn't have to be only your child reading, it can be a story you read together.
When school returns in February, bring back your reading log and then you will get a visit from Fairy Judy!
Thank you so much for your support and have a wonderful holiday!
Welcome to Tuatahi, your child's first class. This blog is a place where we share our learning journey with our whanau and friends. Our whole school theme for 2022 is Superheroes, and this term we will look at the idea that not all superheroes wear capes. We look forward to working together to create a positive learning journey for your child.

Athletics
We had our Rimu athletics on Wednesday morning. We took part in activities such as high jump, long jump, softball throw, three legged race, and hurdles. It was hot work, but lot's of fun.
Congratulations to Bruce who placed third in the 5 year old boys race.
Picnic Day
What an active week we had!
We had our Tuatahi picnic on Tuesday, and it was lots of fun.
We enjoyed activities such as bubble blowing, parachute activities, and egg and spoon races.
We then had a fun swim in the pool followed by a picnic lunch on the field.
Thanks to those parents who were able to share in our fun!

Swimming
We are all very excited to see the pool open for the last few weeks of term.
Tuatahi had their first swim on Wednesday afternoon. It was a fabulous way to cool down after a very hot day!

More water play......
We had some fantastic investigations going on with our water play this week.
Some of our learners found a pipe and began to investigate the movement of water.
They came up with a plan to move the water through the pipe and into a bowl. It then overflowed into a boat, and got trapped in a dam!

Reading
Some of our learners have been learning to read words by sounding out the beginning, middle and endings of words.
Layla and Abigail put their skills to use today by reading the words and finding the picture to match.
