Funky feet Friday!!

Thank you for supporting our Funky Feet Friday!  Walking, scootering and biking to and from school is an excellent way to include daily physical activity into your child/ren’s life, and support us to be a Travelwise School. A bonus is that this also helps to reduce traffic chaos at the school gate, which is very important for student safety.

Do you know who these 'funky' feet belong to?

While we were on the mat we heard a strange jingling noise. These detectives decided to go and investigate where the noise was coming from.....

Luckily they were able to solve the mystery. The jingling came from the bells on Mrs Johns Funky Feet!!

Maths

We had a great morning of maths learning today.

We worked out how many more we needed to make a set.......

We worked on our number formation.......

We also worked on how to show the number by drawing a picture...
We filled in missing numbers using a number line to check.....
.......and we counted how many in a set, and found the number to match.
What a busy time we had!

A visit to the library

What a great way to spend Friday afternoon! It was fun to use the cushions and find a place to read by ourselves or with a buddy.  We love reading!

The Rainbow Tower

Dolores you created a tower his week with the magnetic tiles.  You called it the Rainbow Tower.  It was interesting to see the way you designed the tiles on the ground and you explained that it was rainbow glass!   You also said that no one lives there, they went to another tower!

Coach Cam

On Thursday, we were very lucky to have a PE session with Coach Cam from Kelly Sports.

Here we are in a circle practising jumping with two feet together, but we had to make sure we didn't land in the pond!!

A great start to Fun Friday!

We had fun sharing our experiments with our parents.
Here are some photos of us in action........

Colourful skittles.....

Ms Romaniuk  did an experiment with skittles.
Can you tell your family what she poured over the skittles?
Can you tell your family what the reaction was-what happened?

.....and more science......

Can you put on your scientist hat and make a prediction-what do you think might happen?

Can you explained what happened?
Was there a reaction?

more science.......

Today we had some more fun with baking soda and vinegar.

When we put our 'scientist' hats on, these are some of the things we had to think about:

Talk together with your child about what experiments we have done. You can ask them:
.What materials did we use?
.What did we do with the materials?
.What happened?
What was the reaction?

You can try some baking soda and vinegar experiments at home if you like!

science fun!

Welcome to science week. Each afternoon we will be sharing an experiment with other classes in our Rimu Iti team.

Yesterday we had fun with baking soda and vinegar. Watch what happened!

         Volcano!

 E
We learned a new word:
       Reaction
We saw that when the two ingredients came together there was a reaction.

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
