The Lion in the Meadow!

We ended our week with a special trip to the theatre to watch a show of The Lion in the Meadow.

The show was lots of fun-full of colour, music and magic-we loved it.

Many thanks to the Tim Bray Theatre Company who made it possible for us to go.

Here we are with the cast and musician from the show-can you spot the lion!

We were so excited about the show, we decided to make lion masks-can you see our lions hiding in the meadow?

Play-based Learning.....

It was nice to see this group of boys engaging together during Play-based Learning.

They are building a space ship!

Here is Archie  digging up the concrete to make a space for the spaceship to go.

The space ship is ready for blast off!!

The boys now have a problem they are trying to solve-they want to know how they can get in and out of their spaceship.

I wonder what they will do?

Maths.....

We have been working on different things in maths this week. Here are a few snippets of us in action!

Austin is learning to skip count in 2's.
Can you see a pattern?
David and Lennox have stacked the cups.

Can you count how many cups they have stacked?

Amara and Esther are working on an independent activity matching the pattern in the tens frame to the correct number.
Ezekiel is ordering numbers to 100.

Archie is practising his number formation-this is a great 3 Archie!

A pirate has spied our treasure boxes!
We cut out treasure to put into our boxes, and practised our counting at the same time.
How many pieces of treasure can you see in each box?

Cultural Unity Day

Today we celebrated our annual Cultural Unity Day.

We began our day with an assembly in the hall where we heard some greetings in other languages, and then watched an exciting parade where we saw many costumes from around the world!

Mrs Fletcher shared her special message with us that reminded us that we all look different on the outside, but we are the same on the inside.

We also enjoyed a shared lunch where we got to try different types of food.

Thank you for making the effort to dress your tamariki up for Cultural Unity Day-everyone looked amazing.

We had a fabulous walk up our Maunga this morning.

We are super proud of Tuatahi for their super effort.

We had a great view once we reached the top.

Can you tell someone in your family what you saw on your walk ?

Welcome to Term 2

We are so happy to be back at school and a very big welcome to our new learners and whanau.

We have had a busy week practising for our music concert on Friday. We have also begun our cross country training which is keeping us fit and healthy!

Next week we will be walking up our maunga(mountain), and this sparked an interest in volcanoes!

We have been doing some experimenting during Play based Learning, making a volcano erupt!

Here are some photos of us in action.....

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
