Play based Learning

We made the most of the sunny afternoon by taking our Play based Learning outside!

Our challenge was to find a group of buddies to do some building with.

We built houses, towers, bedrooms, beds among other things.

Here are some photos of us in action!

We saw lot's of great team work, with people communicating and problem solving with each other-Kapai Tuatahi!

Matariki

This week we have been learning about Matariki, which is a time to celebrate the Maori new year.

We read a book called 'The seven kites of Matariki'

This book inspired us to make our own kites for Matariki.

Here are some photos of us making our kites.

                 Here are our fabulous kites!

maths

We have been working on ordering numbers to 5,10 or 20.

Jackson was able to continue a pattern using bugs!

Kapai Tuatahi!

We have ended our week with a big clean up outside, and we were so proud of everyone. We worked as a team and all found a job to do and now our outside area looks amazing. You all earned a well deserved Kaitiakitanga ticket for taking care of our environment, or a Manaakitanga ticket for being responsible and respectful.
This was a lovely way to end our week.

Kia ora Tuatahi, you are amazing!

Play-based Learning-architects at work!

Madeleine, Isla and Ariya spent a lot of time building a base today.

Can you see the lovely fireplace to sit around?

After a while, the girls decided they would like to add a deck to their base, so now they have a cosy place to sit as well!

This is an awesome base girls, and the design of your fireplace and deck is well thought out-congratulations!

Great team work!

Gavin and Thomas were very excited to share their construction with us this morning.

Do you notice anything special about their cars?

They are both exactly the same. They had to work carefully together to make sure they had the same pieces in the same places!

Great team work boys.

Play-based Learning.......

We are very excited about our school production next week, and have been busy practising our dance-we hope you enjoy it!

We have also had a great week of play. Here are some photos of some of the activities we have chosen.

Kristina and Taya are making mud cakes-yum!

Hailey and Sami have been busy making a picnic and looking after the 'family' in the home corner.

Shaheer and Abdullah found the geometry bands and made shapes on the boards-can you see what  shapes they have made?

Experimenting with the magnets has been a popular activity this week. Manaia is trying to catch some magnetic fish, while Thomas and Jackson are seeing what objects the magnet can pick up!

We have had a great week, and are looking forward to our performances next week. We hope to see you all there!

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
