Matariki

In Tuatahi we have been talking about Matariki.

We read books together to learn more about this special celebration for the Maori New Year.

One of the books we read was called The Seven Kites of Matariki. We then enjoyed making our own kites.

You might like to listen to the story by clicking on this link below
We also learned a waiata with Whaea Kristie about the Matariki stars. You might like to sing this with your whanau.

Happy Matariki to all our Tuatahi whanau and friends.

maths

We are learning to read numbers from 10-20. We practised reading the numbers together before completing an activity in our maths book.

I wonder how many numbers you can recognise?

We put the numbers into order.........
Yaasir practised ordering the numbers during Play-based Learning-great job Yaasir, you did this all by yourself.

Pippin recognised the number 17 on our calendar  maths, great spotting Pippin!

Hajaara and Nathan have been working really hard during phonics time. They have been practising writing words by listening carefully to the beginning, middle and end sound.

Duffy show

Being a Duffy school means we have the opportunity to watch a live show each year. Duffy loves to read, and during the show we see how reading helps Duffy overcome some challenges!

Here are some photos from the Duffy show we enjoyed watching on Friday.

Thanks for sharing your love of reading with us Duffy!

Play-based Learning

We had a fun afternoon making different vehicles and seeing how fast they could roll down the ramps.

We experimented rolling our cars down ramps of different heights.

Ready, set, go!

Look how tall Koa's ladder is-it is taller than Mrs Waddington!

I wonder how far these cars will go?
