Repeating pattern snakes in the classroom …….

We are learning about repeating patterns.

We used shapes to make repeating patterns and continued repeating patterns with coloured dots.

Look at our shape pattern snakes! We chose two shapes, cut the shapes and then glued them on to our snakes in a repeating pattern.   You will find them on the wall in Tuatahi! Ssssssss!

Ka pai tamariki, you have all been working very hard  learning about repeating patterns.

 Wheels, wheels, wheels

What a busy week we have had in our new Tuatahi class!
Mobilo was the number one choice.
We did lots of counting, asked lots of questions and built some amazing ramps to race the vehicles up, down, over and under.

Look at the amazing ramps and jumps that were constructed.
There was plenty of teamwork and discussion involved here!

We watched the container being delivered to the field......
How many wheels can you see on the truck and the trailer?

A visit to our school library

Friday is library day!

We had a lovely time choosing books to read, buddy reading and exploring the Junior reader bookshelves.

We love the 'green frog boxes' that are full of great books for us to read.

Kia orana

Kia orana and welcome to Cook Islands Language Week.

Here is the Cook Islands welcome song we have been learning in class, you may like to try singing it together at home.

We were really lucky to have a visit from Haley, who brought in her special covers with Tivaevae patterns on them.

We watched a video showing us how people in the Cook Islands sew their beautiful Tivaevae patterns on to the material. You can click on the picture below if you would like to have a look together at home.

We then had a go at making our own Tivaevae patterns by folding and cutting paper squares.

We then joined our tivaevae patterns together to make our own quilt! We hope you like it.

We ended our week with a special visit from McKenzye, Brooklyn and Ariya who performed a Cook Island Dance for us, it was very special and really enjoyed the dance.
Meitaki for your lovely performance.

Ka kite, have a lovely weekend.

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
