As the term comes to an end it is great to look back on some of the exciting things that have been happening in the last few weeks, we sure have been busy!

The children have been working hard with Soraya practicing their music to share with parents next term....

We had a visit from the Police to show us the super powers of their Police dogs....

Four police cars and dogs came to visit us

The dogs loved to follow the instructors commands and then got to play with them as a reward for their good work

We got to hold our first whole school assembly for a very long time.
I was so proud of how Tuatahi managed themselves during this time.

We have finished the term on a real high with the whole school art exhibition.

It was so nice to see many of the parents come to view the art.

If you were not able to come along, the art will be displayed in the classroom for the rest of the year.

I would like to wish you and your families a safe and happy term break and look forward to catching up again in Term Four.

Clean Up Week 2022

Tuatahi has been busy helping to clean up our community this week. On Monday we joined Room One on a walk around the local streets to pick up rubbish. Look at what we found.....

We even found a pumpkin wrapped in plastic....

We crawled under trees, looked along fence lines and even in the gutters, we found so much rubbish.

Here  is the final collection. We bought it back to school and put it in our big bin.
Thanks Tuatahi for being tidy Kiwis.

Te Wiki o te reo Māori - Tītī tōrea

We had a wonderful afternoon learning a new waiata and trying a new game called Tītī tōrea (stick games).

We were very proud of ourselves.  We all participated and followed instructions carefully, worked cooperatively with a buddy and persevered to try and master a new skill.

We can't wait to play Tītī tōrea again!

Tongan Language Week

Mālō e lelei

We have had fun learning about Tonga and the Tongan language this week.

This morning we celebrated with a special visit from Phoenix who showed us her beautiful Tongan clothing and adornments. She also taught us a Tongan song.  Thank you so much Phoenix!

This afternoon were also very lucky to be invited to share Room 1's Tongan Language Week celebration.

Thank you Kristina, Kalo, Rose and your Mum and Grandma!

We loved your singing and thank you  for sharing your delicious food with us.

Learning about compost ( and a surprise visitor)

We wondered where our fruit and food scraps went after we put them in our green bin.

So this afternoon we went for a walk to find out.

Empty our green bin into the compost bin near Room 10

When this bin is full it gets taken to the big compost bins on the field

Our fruit and food scraps are mixed with dry leaves

While we were at the field we were surprised to see a hedgehog helping with some compost scraps that had fallen on the ground!

 Fun at the Play Shed

This week was our first trip to the play shed and lots of fun was had by everyone in Tuatahi.

First we had to set up the area to play in and then we had to empty the shed of all of the interesting pieces of junk.

Next was a chance to explore, build, create and imagine.......

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
