 P.M.P. Fun

The Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) is a movement-based program which helps younger students improve their eye/hand and eye/foot coordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills.
The P.M.P. programme runs on Wednesday's during the term. Due to various reasons it has not been very regular this term so the children were very happy to be able to go today.
We are always keen to have parent support in order for the children to get the most out of this experience. If you think that you may be able to help and give a little of your time in 2023 please let your new classroom teacher know.
Here are some of the fun things that your children did today...

We balance

                                           We march

We jump

We spin

We throw

and lots of other fun things!

Learning about Measurement

We have been learning about meausuring.

Today we used cubes to measure some classroom items and our feet!

We traced around our foot and then used the cubes to measure our foot.  We counted the cubes and were able to see if our foot was longer or shorter than our buddy's foot.

We want to measure how tall we are next!  We wonder who will be the tallest in Tuatahi?

Maths Maths Maths

Maths takes many forms in a Play-based class. Here are some of the ways it is seen...

Counting and measuring

Adding numbers to 5 and then 10.

Recognising numbers, counting and fine motor skills.

Counting and sorting.

Numbers before and after a number is a very important concept for children to learn.

We practice balancing often during our daily routine. Here are some ways it is used in the playground...

The children spent a long time on this activity, especially once the idea of jumping off occured.
They were taking turns, communicating where they would like the green piece of junk and applauding each others achievements!

Hazel and Rose were so clever that they were even walking backwards as they balanced!

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
