A visit to our school library

Friday is library day!

We had a lovely time choosing books to read, buddy reading and exploring the Junior reader bookshelves.

We love the 'green frog boxes' that are full of great books for us to read.

Kia orana

Kia orana and welcome to Cook Islands Language Week.

Here is the Cook Islands welcome song we have been learning in class, you may like to try singing it together at home.

We were really lucky to have a visit from Haley, who brought in her special covers with Tivaevae patterns on them.

We watched a video showing us how people in the Cook Islands sew their beautiful Tivaevae patterns on to the material. You can click on the picture below if you would like to have a look together at home.

We then had a go at making our own Tivaevae patterns by folding and cutting paper squares.

We then joined our tivaevae patterns together to make our own quilt! We hope you like it.

We ended our week with a special visit from McKenzye, Brooklyn and Ariya who performed a Cook Island Dance for us, it was very special and really enjoyed the dance.
Meitaki for your lovely performance.

Ka kite, have a lovely weekend.

Welcome to term 3

It has been great getting back into the school routines in Tuatahi. The children have been busy getting creative with the playdough. Look at what amazing creatures they have made.....

Today in assembly we sung a new welcome song in Te Reo. Click on the picture below if you would like to practice at home.

Happy Holidays!

Our poem this week was all about pop pop popping popcorn! We hope you enjoy reading it at home.

We celebrated the end of term by making popcorn boxes.........and filling it with delicious popcorn.

Please remember to fill out your holiday reading log. It was send home this week and should be in your child's bookbag.

Every time you read a book together over the holidays write it in your reading log and then bring your it back to school on the first day of term 3. Fairy Judy pays a special visit to those who bring back their reading logs.

Have a fun and safe holiday everyone, and we look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday July 25.

Zoo

We have been learning about living and non-living things. We know that animals are living things and it was great to learn a bit more about some animals from the wonderful zoo keepers at Auckland Zoo. We think the zoo keepers are superheroes because they look after the animals and keep them safe in their habitats.

Here is a fun song about going to the zoo. You might like to sing it with your whanau!
You are welcome to look at the many photos we have or our trip to the zoo when you are next in class!

Ka Kite

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
