Rimu Team Animal Enclosures

Over the last couple of weeks, all of the children in Rimu Team have been making animal enclosures.  Today, we got to walk around the other classrooms to see their enclosures.  We learnt a lot about animals, their habitats and what they eat.

Detectives!!

In Play Based Learning today, some of the children were detectives!  They had fun with the magnifying glasses finding important clues around the classroom.  Then they wrote secret clues with invisible ink.  We have special lights that make the ink show up.  Such fun!!!!

Animal Enclosures

We had a fun morning making enclosures for our zoo animals.
First, we talked about what an enclosure is and why we need one. We also talked about what the animals need in their enclosures.
Then we chose our buddies and got to work! We hope you enjoy looking at these photos of our enclosures.

maths

We are learning to identify number patterns in the tens frames.
Sarah, Claude and Ella have been working hard to order the tens frames from 1-10.

Measurement

Our strand maths this term is measurement and we have done some work on measuring and ordering. We  have some balancing materials in our room where children can investigate what is heavier, lighter or the same.
Peter and Niko found a way to make their scales balance-good investigating boys.

Yummy milk and healthy fruit!

Did you know that at Owairaka School we are very lucky.  We have yummy milk and healthy fruit most days.  We take a 'brain break' in the morning and sit down together to eat and drink.  After we have refueled our bodies, we are ready for more learning!
