The Play Shed

Play Based Learning at the Play Shed

Working together to solve problems and build a 'space ship'

Leaping and jumping and taking turns.
Taking risks and challenging ourselves.
Participating and Contributing - talking about a problem and how to solve it.
Relating to others with more pretend play - this is our Police Station!
Having fun with hoops.  We are pretending this one is a 'lifebuoy'!

Fun Friday!

After calendar maths we had a fun Friday fitness session with Tyler.
Time to read our Poem of the Week, find our word of the week 'said' and colour in our poem to take home and read this weekend.
When we finish we can choose to use a construction game.
Or spend time in the class library reading quietly with a buddy.
Handwriting time!  Letter Hh today, we think about the shape of the letter h, a tall stick and a tunnel.

Fruit break time, yum yum!

Maths time.  We are learning to count to 10 and recognise the matching numerals.

What fabulous manawanuitanga Tuatahi tamariki.
Look at our colourful divas we made this week, Happy Diwali!

Have a great weekend!

Put it in your Diary....

Rimu Iti would love you to join us for our music performance.

Thursday 3rd November in the school hall.

This is the culmination of many weeks practice and we can't wait to show you all of our hard work.

A busy week back

We had a visit from Room 20 to help us learn our school song Tamariki Owairaka E.

Tuatahi were very quick to pick up the actions and we are looking forward to Room 20's next visit so that we can get even better!

We celebrated Niuean Language week by learning how to say hello in Niuean....

Fakalofa Atu

We also saw the flag flying on the school flagpole.

Cricket lessons!

We were very lucky to have two cricket lessons this week with a special sports instructor.

We worked together in small teams.

We tried hard to aim and throw the ball towards the wickets.

We used cricket bats to hit the ball towards the wickets.

We scored double points if we hit the wickets.

It was so much fun!

Look at the photos of us in action!

As the term comes to an end it is great to look back on some of the exciting things that have been happening in the last few weeks, we sure have been busy!

The children have been working hard with Soraya practicing their music to share with parents next term....

We had a visit from the Police to show us the super powers of their Police dogs....

Four police cars and dogs came to visit us

The dogs loved to follow the instructors commands and then got to play with them as a reward for their good work

We got to hold our first whole school assembly for a very long time.
I was so proud of how Tuatahi managed themselves during this time.

We have finished the term on a real high with the whole school art exhibition.

It was so nice to see many of the parents come to view the art.

If you were not able to come along, the art will be displayed in the classroom for the rest of the year.

I would like to wish you and your families a safe and happy term break and look forward to catching up again in Term Four.

Clean Up Week 2022

Tuatahi has been busy helping to clean up our community this week. On Monday we joined Room One on a walk around the local streets to pick up rubbish. Look at what we found.....

We even found a pumpkin wrapped in plastic....

We crawled under trees, looked along fence lines and even in the gutters, we found so much rubbish.

Here  is the final collection. We bought it back to school and put it in our big bin.
Thanks Tuatahi for being tidy Kiwis.

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
