This week is Green Week. Our school wide focus is on NZ birds.
Tuatahi are doing some learning about the Kiwi bird.
We have been learning about where they live, what they eat and what they look like.
We are also painting some pictures of a Kiwi.
Look out for our new display coming soon!
We are also learning this song to sing in assembly on Friday, You might like to practise singing it at home.
Cheeky Little Fantail
Welcome to Tuatahi, your child's first class. This blog is a place where we share our learning journey with our whanau and friends. Our whole school theme for 2022 is Superheroes, and this term we will look at the idea that not all superheroes wear capes. We look forward to working together to create a positive learning journey for your child.

Measurement
We have been learning to measure things using non standard measures.
This week we used cubes to measure our feet!
How many cubes long do you think your feet might be?
We then had a go at measuring strips of paper with the cubes.
We also used cubes to measure other objects in our room.

Term 3
Welcome back to term 3. We have a busy term ahead with Green week, Book week and an art exhibition to prepare for!
We have introduced a weekly maths problem solving activity. We are encouraging our learners to draw a picture to show how they can solve the problem.

You will find the maths problems on the window-check them out !
This weeks problem is about buns in the bakery!
In our construction area we are encouraging our learners to make predictions about which materials can make the tallest tower.
Once a prediction has been made, our learners then have a go at building their tower.
Umer is having a go at building the tallest tower from wooden blocks.
Matthew, Logan and Freddie are working together to try and build the tallest tower from paper cups.
Moses is having a go at building a tall tower from magnetics.
The boys used measuring tapes to see how tall their towers were.
Great building and measuring boys!
I wonder what other materials they might find to build towers from?
