Welcome to Tuatahi, your child's first class. This blog is a place where we share our learning journey with our whanau and friends.
Our whole school theme for 2022 is Superheroes, and this term we will look at the idea that not all superheroes wear capes.
We look forward to working together to create a positive learning journey for your child.

Remember we are learning that letters have a name and a sound.
Maths
Today we are going to do some more work on recognising shapes while practising our counting at the same time.
Writing numbers
If you have some pen and paper at home, you can practise your number formation by writing the numbers from 1-10.
Numbers are like letters, and we start from the top!
The red dots on the chart below show you where to start forming your numbers
Here is a fun song to practise counting forwards and backwards 1-10. At the end of the song there is a chance to read the number-I wonder how many numbers you can recognise?
Poem and word of the week
Our word of the week is the. Have a go at writing the on some paper at home. Can you count how many letters are in the word?
Here is the poem we have been reading in class this week. Find someone in your whanau that you can read it with. Point out the word the-how many times can you see the in our poem?
Reading
Now it is time to enjoy a story.
Today's story is called 'Handa's Surprise'
The first video is a reading of the book and the second one is an animated version. Listen to them both and see which one you enjoyed the most!
Have fun with your mahi today and don't forget to send us some photos pgetty@owairaka.school.nz
