Thomas and Archie accepted the challenge of building a bridge that was not straight across.
Here is their design-great work boys, we love your curved bridge!
Welcome to Tuatahi, your child's first class. This blog is a place where we share our learning journey with our whanau and friends. Our whole school theme for 2022 is Superheroes, and this term we will look at the idea that not all superheroes wear capes. We look forward to working together to create a positive learning journey for your child.

Great work Tuatahi, we are super proud of the way you worked together to problem solve while building your bridges. The goats will be so happy because now they can cross the river to get to the nice green grass!
At the end of every term, we send home holiday reading logs.
We encourage you and your child to continue to read together everyday, and each time you read a book, you record it on your holiday reading log.
You then bring it back to school on the first day of term 3, and Fairy Judy will visit with a surprise for those who have brought them back.
There is also a competition between the classes to see which class receives the most holiday reading logs.
Holiday reading logs were sent home today, please check your child's book bag.
HAPPY READING EVERYONE!
We have had so much fun making our class volcano.
First, we used papier mache to create our volcano. It was messy, but fun!
Our next step was to paint our volcano.
Emily suggested we paint the base green to look like grass, and Sami suggested we turn it into a dinosaur kingdom. These were great ideas, so we made trees and dinosaurs and created our kingdom.
Finally, all that was left was to make our volcano active!
It was great to see people having fun with the dinosaur kingdom today.
Some learners decided to carry on with the volcano/dinosaur theme by completing a puzzle together.
This week we celebrated Green Week. We have been learning about compost.
Did you know we have compost bins at our school?
Here are some photos of how we make our compost at school.
yellow is for landfill
green is for food waste
black is for paper recycling
Then we empty our small bins into the big bins!
Leaves are also added to the compost bin.
Worms help to turn our food waste into compost.
Once we have our new compost, it is used as healthy soil to put on the garden.
We have enjoyed learning about compost this week.
We enjoyed a visit from Tom and Ari, from Auckland Museum, who came to talk to us about volcanoes.
We learnt a lot of interesting information.
Did you know there are 53 volcanoes in Auckland and volcanoes can be either extinct, sleeping or active. This map shows the volcanoes in Auckland.
Our local Maunga, is extinct.
Here are some photos of some of the learning we did with Tom and Ari.
They showed us a picture of Earth. We are making our own volcano-watch this space!
It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
