The end of term has arrived!

It's hard to believe we are at the end of term 3 already!

We have had a nice week with Play Based Learning, where we have focused on working together, being resilient and persistent while we play together.

Here are some photos of us in action.

Play dough-Iverson and Alya made the three bears who were all different sizes.
Threading is a fun activity that helps to develop our fine motor skills.
Layla wrote a list of names all by herself-great writing Layla!
We loved playing number bingo with Lovely Lau.

Lots of persistence and resilience was displayed while these boys put the train track together-great team work!

Art Exhibition

We hope you had a chance to get to the hall to have a look at our Art Exhibition.
The art work on display was amazing.
Here are some photos of the art work produced by the learners in Tuatahi.
We used the painting 'Castle in the Sky' by Paul Klee as our inspiration.
Each student began their creation by looking at the picture and talking about the shapes they could see.
They then experimented by placing pre cut shapes onto paper. Once they were happy with their design, we took a photo of it.
We then used the photo to reproduce their design on paper.
Once they had painted and glued their shapes, they outlined each shape with charcoal, and then added a black wash to the background.
Well done Tuatahi, we love your 'Castle in the Sun' paintings.

Our 3D piece was a tissue paper bowl.
To make the bowls, we glued small pieces of tissue paper onto a water balloon. Once dry, we added another colour  over the top.
The bowls are very delicate, but we love the way the colours have merged together. Here is a photo of our bowls.
Our final piece of work was a collaborative piece, where we all contributed to a class canvas.

Play Based Learning Fun

We set ourselves a challenge using links.

Great team work resulted in a very large linked chain that could indeed fit around the table!
They even managed to link a chain big enough to fit around our mat! I wonder how many links they needed?

Maori language week

We have been learning a lot of new Te Reo words as part of Maori language week.

We hope you enjoyed reading our poem this week, and that you now know the colours in Maori.

We were very lucky to have Whaea Trudy in our room on Friday morning teaching us a song to help us learn the Maori names for parts of our body. She also played a game of Simon Says using Te Reo.

Kapai everyone!

Run, Run as fast as you can..........

We loved it when Mrs Fletcher, our Principal, came into our class during book week and shared the story of  'The Gingerbread Man.' So we decided to follow this up by making our own gingerbread men!
We read books, and made a story board, and even did some writing in our books about our gingerbread men.
Here are some photos of our Fun Friday gingerbread morning!
We read stories about the gingerbread man.
Mrs Fletcher told us a story using the story board.

We rolled, cut and decorated our gingerbread men.
Eva even made a mask of the gingerbread man!
Yum-all cooked and waiting to be eaten!

Here we are pretending to be the hungry fox-yum!

Play Based Learning

We love Play Based Learning in Tuatahi, and this week we worked together to connect a train track.
We learnt how to problem solve when trying to make a bridge and working out how to support the track as it went up hill!
We also learnt how to work as a team, as we shared the pieces, and worked together to connect the track.
Well done everyone!

Malo e lelei

Malo to Iunisi, who kindly came to Tuatahi to share some of her Tongan Culture with us.
We loved learning how to sing 'Heads,Shoulders, Knees and Toes' in Tongan!
Thank you Iunisi.

Pop Pop Popcorn!

It was a pop pop pop popcorn kind of day on Friday! First we decorated our boxes. Next we cut and folded our boxes, we had to think carefu...
