Welcome to Tuatahi, your child's first class. This blog is a place where we share our learning journey with our whanau and friends.
Our whole school theme for 2022 is Superheroes, and this term we will look at the idea that not all superheroes wear capes.
We look forward to working together to create a positive learning journey for your child.

Word of the week and writing
I have written some sentences using the word went. See if you can read them.
Now it's your turn to write your own sentence using the word went.
We would love to see a photo of your writing-you can take a photo and send it to pgetty@owairaka.school.nz
Reading
Here are two different people reading the story, choose which one you would like to listen to or listen to them both and see which reading you like the best!
If you would like to find out a bit more about Inky the Octopus click on these links below:
Now it's time to practise reading your sight words. I wonder if you are getting quicker at reading the words? Today we are going to read the words from a chart but the video link is also there if you would still like to have a go at being quicker than the video voice-good luck!
Remember, begin with magenta, and only move to red and then yellow if you feel ready for a challenge.
We are learning to skip count in 2's. So far this week we have been practising our counting in 2's.
Have a go at filling in the missing numbers on this sheet below.
This number line is here to help you.
For anyone who would like an extra challenge, this sheet is practising counting in 2's to 100
Now we are going to use our knowledge to do some counting. We can sometimes count how many things there are more quickly if we can use our skip counting. Watch this video to see how we use skip counting in 2's to count how many.
Now it's your turn-let's have a go at counting how many using our skip counting in 2's.
Count how many objects there are in each line by counting in 2's.
We will do some more practise of how to count in 2's during our google meet today.
